Guru Makes Gouranga Appear In Heart | ISKCON Mayapur | by HH Haladhar Swami Maharaj | 12-March-2025

How pure devotees descend from spiritual world to deliver us.

Srila Prabhupada used to say - In spiritual world everyone wants Krishna's happiness

They do not consider their own happiness

If one wants to go to golok from this material world, one's mood should be like that. Only Krishna's happiness. This is called the seed of Bhakti lata. That is not with us.

Many Yogi's and Gyani's, they don't have material desire. But they also do not have desire to pleasure Krsna.

Real Spiritual Desire is "To pleasure Krsna"

Pure devotees as they are from spiritual world, they are called "krsna's own man", they want to inject the feelings of Braj wasi, Radharani into us.

Unless we develop this mood, we can not --

Pram Mantra of Chaitanya Mahaprabhu - Namo maha Vadanyaya, Krsna Prem Pradayate

Following the footsteps of Chaitanya Mahaprabhu

These all nitya siddha Acharya's, their business is to ensure How the condition soul will develop this mood - to pleasure krsna, so that he can return to its constitutional position.

Constitutional Position - To give pleasure to Krsna - This is seed

What is Bhakti Lata Bija -

Bhaktivinod Thakur gave this definition. When you're hankering to give pleasure to guru and gauranga, without considering your own problems. This signifies that you have received the bhakti lata Bija from Guru and Vaishavas. This is the gift of pure devotees.

Not just to serve krsna, but to pleasure krsna.

Guru is a combination of eternal potency (chit shakti) by his divine power, he is showering -

Example --

Electricity power is there. But it doesn't automatically goes to the appliance. There are very specific wires through which it goes to the particular appliance, and it works. Wires are the medium through which the electric power flows.

Hence, medium is very important.

Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Saraswati Thakur used to say -

In our Life, we have chance to meet many saithly persons. But due to our crucadeness we are unable to recognise them. Mahaprabhu please save me from the cruel hand of this demon i.e., doubt.

Above every tattva, gyan, Seva, etc., Vaishnavism is paramount.

Easiest way to achieve krsna -

Develop simplicity. Put unflinching faith on the lotus feet's of pure devotees.

Other things krsna will arrange.

Faith and Simple Faith are different.

We should preach only towards being simple and sober. Otherwise people will loose faith towards Acharyas.

We should not deviate ourselves from the principles given by Acharyas and Gaudiya philosophy. Otherwise people will start developing doubts about the Acharya parampara in their hearts. They may loose simplicity.

We also should not preach the personal realization we have with our guru's.

Since 1992 when Maharaj joined ISKCON, he just had followed his guru's instructions as it is. He didn't have any personal books.

Two tracks in spiritual life -

  1. Simplicity and
  2. Dependence (on Guru & Krsna)

These are the only ways for a conditioned soul like us, as we have karmas and Prarabdhas.

Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Saraswati Thakur says - Simplicity is Vaishnavism

Two ways to counteract Prarabdhas -

  1. Achieve Naam abhas stage
  2. Blessings of a pure devotee

Achieving Naam abhas stage is not easy. Srila Bhaktivinod Thakur said -

Kabhu Naamabhas hoye,

sada Naam Aparadh,

E sabu janiya bhai

Bhajane ra baad

 

There are slightest instances when one gets the naam abhas stage. Rest majority of time, it is always naam Aparadha.

When we depend of guru and krsna, they give us everything which is needed for us. No need of begging, if we're depending.

The more we depend, the more mercy we will get.

Guru tattva is a matter of realisation, not calculation.

Even when our guru is not in this material world, if he is in spiritual world, by --

within our heart, we feel connection with guru. This is blissfulness.

E.g., when we study Bhagwatam, we read purport by Prabhupada, if we have faith on Acharyas, we will immediately feel nourishment.

In spiritual life we want nourishment. Nourishment comes from hladini Shakti in bhakti yoga. Hladini Shakti is with spiritual master, pure devotees.

Example -

Though Chaitanya Mahaprabhu and Govinda were god brothers, When Ishwar puri left his material body, he instructed Govinda to serve Sri Krsna Chaitanya Mahaprabhu.

Govinda came, and Chaitanya Mahaprabhu was introducing him to Sarvabhauma Bhattacharya as his god brother.

Sarvabhauma Bhattacharya enquired that how your Gurudev allowed Govinda, as he is from other caste.

Chaitanya Mahaprabhu said - My Gurudev is transcendental. He doesn't comes under the injunctions of the Vedic rules and regulations.

Prabhu Kahe Ishwara haye param swatantra,

Ishwara ra krupa nuhe veda paratantra.

Chaitanya Mahaprabhu asked Govinda for his purpose of visit. He said when Gurudev left his body, he sent me to serve you.

Chaitanya Mahaprabhu asked Sarvabhauma Bhattacharya, what should Govinda follow, as he was Mahaprabhu's god brother.

He said Govinda must follow his guru's order. He gave two references, one from ramayan, another from lord parashuram's life history.

Mercy is above vedic rules and regulations. Therefore it is called as causeless mercy.

Why all sastra is glorifying Sadhu - Sadhus mercy is causeless mercy.

This is because they descend from spiritual world for this very purpose i.e., to shower mercy.

Hence we should patiently wait for mercy.

This shows that, when it is to follow the instructions of the spiritual master, one should not think about time, place and circumstances. One should follow as it is.

We should learn simplicity from Govinda. Though being the god brother of Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, he served him in utmost faith in simple heart.

Chaitanya Mahaprabhu use to play with his god brother Govinda.

Once Chaitanya Mahaprabhu was sleeping and Govinda came to serve him by messaging.

When he came, as Mahaprabhu was sleeping just infront of the door, he couldn't enter (although he was not sleeping actually, as he was playing with him).

Then he put his cloth on Mahaprabhu's body and jumped over him to get inside.

After a while when mahaprabhu woke up, he asked Govinda how did he entered as he was sleeping on the way.

Govinda said, I can commit offences in order to serve you.

Govinda established the milestone reference of how one should serve his spiritual master.

As Gaudiya Vaishnav, our goal is to go golok vrindavan, and not to get into material controversies.

Srila Prabhupada said in one of the lecture, he has personally met with his spiritual master hardly 5-6 times only.

Association means, abiding by the mood of the pure devotees.

This concludes that, a Guru can make appear krsna within our heart.

Where does krsna appears - he appears in the heart of a pure vaishnav

Durvāsā Muni wanted to chastise Mahārāja Ambarīṣa (pure devotee), Lord Vishnu says -

साधवो हृदयं मह्यं साधूनां हृदयं त्वहम् । मदन्यत् ते न जानन्ति नाहं तेभ्यो मनागपि ॥

-- SB 9.4.68

sādhavo hṛdayaṁ mahyaṁ sādhūnāṁ hṛdayaṁ tv aham mad-anyat te na jānanti nāhaṁ tebhyo manāg api

Translation --

The pure devotee is always within the core of My heart, and I am always in the heart of the pure devotee. My devotees do not know anything else but Me, and I do not know anyone else but them.

We can not attract Sadhu, Guru's Mercy by knowledge, abilities, any other qualification. Only by simplicity we can.

Simplicity is the best qualification.

Guru always like persons who are simply, regardless of their qualification.

Lord Rama and Lakshman were in a garden where Lord Rama noticed Devi Sita. His attention went towards her.

He asked Lakshman about the same. Later he went to his Guru and asked about this. This is his simplicity.

Simplicity Means - unflinching faith in the lotus feet's of Guru and Sadhu

Only when we cleanse our inner contaminations, we can not develop a strong will to get krsna.

Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Saraswati Thakur said - those who are our friends, who are crying for us (our Guru), we are stabbing at their backs.

This is the reason pure devotees do not stay in this world for long. People misunderstand them and commit offences to them.

Therefore krsna calls them back to his abode.

Conditioned soul has shear mentality.

A disciple's position is ONLY known to Guru and Krsna. Hence, no one should judge others.

There is difference between intelligent and over intelligent

Sanatan Goswami said  to Chaitanya Mahaprabhu --

raghunāthera pāda-padme veciyāchoṅ māthā kāḍite nā pāroṅ māthā, pāṅa baḍa vyathā

-- CC Antya 4.40

Translation --

“ ‘I have sold my head at the lotus feet of Lord Rāmacandra. I cannot take it away. That would be too painful for me.

 

A disciple should always think that my Gurudev is with me.

Where Gurudev is there, all parampara Acharyas are there.

Mostly we are struggling with our anarthas.

    1. By listening with concentrate attention what the Sadhu Guru says,

    2. by putting unflinching faith on his words; and

    3. by Surrendering unto them,

you can get the mercy of Sadhu Guru.

In spiritual life, surrender means 2 things. Srila Bhaktivinod Thakur said -

Tumi je rakhayak ar palaka amar,

Tomar charana bina asha nai ar

This mood we should try to develop.

In guru Tattva, there is two classification of Guru -

  1. Samasti Guru - Krsna
  2. Vesti Guru - Incarnations of Krsna in the for of Spiritual Master

According to Sukruti, a soul meets his spiritual master.

We should convince ourselves on the these facts -

  1. Prabhupada is from spiritual world
  2. He is a man of vaikuntha. He doesn't belongs to this material world.
  3. Parampara Acharyas are nitya siddhas

 

Backdoor key to Golok Vrindavan --

Sri Narottam Das Thakur said -

गौरांगेरा संगी-गणे,

नित्य-सिद्ध कोरी माने,

से जय ब्रजेंद्र-सुता-पास

Anyone who has understood that the associates of Lord Caitanya are eternally liberated soulsimmediately becomes eligible to enter into the abode of Krishna, the son of Nanda Maharaja in Vrindavana, inhis next birth.

Rather than maintaining material relationship with Sadhu Guru, we should try to manifest our eternal relationship with them in the core of our hearts.
